Abstract
As an Igbo language teacher and advocate for cultural preservation, I am eager to present my research on the intersection of technology, culture, and human capital in promoting the language, traditions, and values of the Igbo people. This presentation will explore how digital technologies, especially AI-powered tools and social media platforms, can enhance the preservation of Igbo language and culture among young Nigerians. While these technologies offer remarkable opportunities for cultural dissemination, they also present challenges, such as lack of cultural heterogeneity, language extinction, and screen addiction. Drawing from my experiences as an Igbo educator and social media influencer, I will discuss strategies for effectively using digital tools in Igbo language education while addressing potential drawbacks. This presentation aims to contribute to the broader dialogue on culture and human capital by emphasizing the significance of preserving indigenous languages in the digital era. Additionally, it will provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and community leaders on how to collaborate in leveraging digital technologies for cultural preservation and promotion. As an advocate for the preservation of the Igbo language and culture, I am committed to preventing our traditions from becoming extinct. An appropriately recommended synergy will save the situation. I look forward to sharing my research and engaging in meaningful discussions with fellow scholars.
