Kingsley C. Ezeuwa

Kingsley Chidimma Ezeuwa is a doctoral candidate in the History Department at Marquette University and serves as Secretary-General at Igbo Studies Association in the United States. He grew up in Ndiaguazu Amagu village, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Born in 1994, to the family of the late Nwoda Josephine and Ezeuwa John Nworu, Kingsley benefited from the nursery school tutelage of Regina Nwakpa of the same community. Between 2001 and 2007, he attended Central School, Amagu/Amaezekwe, earning the First School Leaving Certificate, before transitioning to the neighboring Izzikworo High School, Ukometa, where he completed secondary education in 2013 with the Senior School Certificate. He worked briefly as a self-employed ice cream vendor in both Aba and Owerri cities of Nigeria. In 2015, Kingsley continued his education at the university level, after securing a tuition scholarship from the Consultative Elite Forum, a public welfare organization in his great Amagu community. Kingsley had wanted to study Political Science to master the art and science of leadership. But after passing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), fate caused him to switch to a sister field of History. In 2019, he graduated with First-Class Honors from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. On June 13, 2021, at the grand finale of the 49th convocation ceremony of the UNN, Kingsley was awarded the Best Graduating Student of the Department of History and International Studies. Kingsley's commitment to excellence endears him to his teachers, including Prof. Chima J. Korieh who strongly encouraged him to pursue graduate studies. As a young man, Kingsley's first major leadership role was serving as Senior Prefect at Izzikworo High School, Ukometa. This was an elected position with a one-year student overseer responsibility. His teaching and research interests cut across Romantic environmental consciousness, African conflict studies, and Atlantic connections.
