Terminology and Lexicology
A research group for ISA members working on Igbo terminology, lexicology, lexicography, dictionaries, specialized vocabulary, translation, language modernization, and knowledge representation. The group supports collaborative discussion on how Igbo words, terms, concepts, and expressions are created, documented, standardized, translated, and used across domains.
Research focus: This group focuses on Igbo terminology development, lexical studies, dictionary-making, corpus-based vocabulary research, technical and academic terminology, translation equivalents, neologisms, semantic fields, phraseology, and the relationship between language, knowledge, and culture.
Group rules:
Members may share terminology questions, word lists, dictionary projects, translation challenges, corpus findings, and requests for collaboration. Discussions should be respectful and should recognize dialectal diversity, scholarly evidence, and community usage. Where possible, members should provide sources, examples, context, and proposed definitions when discussing terms.
